Matt Doetsch-Kidder Sensei began training aikido in 1999 at the Virginia Ki Society under George Simcox Sensei. His training journey includes several trips to Japan for intensive training retreats at the headquarters dojo.

He has accompanied Shaner Sensei to Russia as his attendant and assistant, demonstrating his dedication to the art and his instructor. In the 2004 International Taigi Competition, he and his Taigi partner Jon Poppele were awarded two gold medals and one bronze medal.

Doetsch-Kidder Sensei brings this wealth of international experience and competitive success to his teaching, helping students develop both technical proficiency and a deeper understanding of Ki principles.

Yondan in Shinshin Toitsu Aikido
Joden in Shinshin Toitsudo

Qualified Assistant Examiner

After training in Tae Kwon Do for several years, Brian Kelley began training in Aikido in 1980 at the Shodokan Dojo in Salem, Massachusetts with Bernie Mulligan sensei. He also trained at New England Aikikai in both Aikido and Iaido with Mitsunari Kanai sensei.

In 1982 he moved to Virginia with his family. Because there was no Aikido dojo in the Elkton, Va. area, he made occasional trips to Capitol Aikikai in Washington, DC to train, and did this for several years.
